When we spend a high proportion of our time at work, ideally it should be something we are totally passionate about, although this may not always be the case and we should be aiming to work towards this. In the meantime, irrespective of the circumstances, it is important to be in a position where work satisfies our need for meaning and contribution. The book “Man’s Search for Meaning” written by Victor Frankl during World War II established the importance of this for each of us. The contribution we make as well as the values we display and beliefs we hold, will start and form the basis of our identity, however the workplace should not have the impact of moving us too far away from our core values. By aligning with the flow in our lives and at work, we will ensure that we satisfy these needs overall.
