Microsoft will release the newest version of its Windows software, Windows 8, on October 26, the company announced overnight.
The confirmation comes just a few days after Microsoft said it would only charge $US40 for current Windows users to upgrade.
While the operating system has been available for a while in a โrelease candidateโ, the full version will be released on October 26. This is the full retail version and will ultimately receive the companyโs support.
โRelease candidatesโ are early builds of a piece of software that are near completion, but may have some bugs and other problems. Companies release them to the public in the hope of finding more bugs to fix before the final version ships.
