Telstra has announced the launch of its NRL LIVE 2013 streaming video app for iPhone and Android, with the app working across all mobile network carriers.

The carrier-independent nature of the app marks a departure from previous Telstra streaming video and mobile content services, which were often linked to using Telstra as a mobile or broadband internet provider.

Telstra promises the app will provide live mobile coverage of the 2013 NRL Telstra Premiership, along with Finals Series, Grand Final, Anzac Test, U20โ€™s Origin and Country v City matches.

โ€œOur partnership with the NRL is built around using technology to bring fans closer to the game, particularly if they canโ€™t be there on match day,โ€ says Telstra Media Group managing director Rick Ellis.

โ€œThe ability to watch live coverage on-the-go โ€“ regardless of their mobile network carrier โ€“ gives fans more ways to enjoy the game they love.

โ€œTelstra customers have the added benefit of incurring no data streaming and App browsing costs and superior coverage across the Telstra network, ensuring a richer on-the-go experience.โ€
