Nokia has announced that it has begun shipping its low-cost Windows Phone 8-based Lumia 620 smartphone, with the device to be available through Australian retailers on February 22.

As SmartCompany reported after the global unveiling in December, the smartphone features 1GHz Qualcomm S4 processor, 512MB RAM, 8GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, NFC and a 3.8-inch WVGA display.

The company has also created a short promotional video showing off some of its key features.

The smartphone carries a recommended retail price of $329 and will be available through JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, Dick Smith, Harvey Norman and Allphones.

“We want to deliver smartphones, under the Lumia umbrella, that appeal to a range of people and age groups,” Nokia Australia managing director, Steve Lewis says.

โ€œWith the Lumia 620, weโ€™re targeting a more cost-conscious younger audience who do not want to compromise on features and functionality.

โ€œItโ€™s a great choice for someone looking to make the smartphone switch.โ€
