As the mandatory internet filtering debate continues, the six internet service providers chosen by the Government to test the filtering infrastructure will begin their trials soon. But already one of the ISPs has revealed most of its customers are opposed to the plan.
ย
ย New survey results released by ISP Netspace show 78.9% of 10,000 questionnaire respondents opposed the Government’s plan to filter the internet at ISP-levels. The results also show that 61.8% of those who disagree do so “strongly”.
ย The results also show that 64.9% of respondents would not even sign up for an optional filtering system, while 26.1% said “maybe”.ย
And in response to allegations that new internet filtering software would slow internet speeds, 70% of respondents say they would oppose filtering programs if their internet speeds and access costs would be affected.ย
