Small businesses in a key part of the Queensland city of Toowoomba have been told they have one month to organise switching over to the National Broadband Network, ahead of a closure of the copper network on August 28.
The area to switch over includes businesses east of the New England Highway, west of Lindsay Street, south of Bridge Street and north of Margaret Street.
Ahead of the switchover, the NBN Co is organising local advertising, community information sessions, direct mail and door-to-door service calls to notify businesses and residents about the changes.
The events include a speech by NBN Coโs chief customer officer, John Simon, to the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerceโs Business @ Breakfast event on August 22.
โWe are particularly urging people with special equipment including EFTPOS terminals and medical and security alarms which operate using a landline phone connection to check with their preferred service provider about moving these services across to the NBN,โ NBN Co spokesperson Ryan Williams says in a statement.
Meanwhile, building owners in the area with a lift containing an emergency phone are being urged to register it on 1800 687 626 ahead of the switchover.
