Nokia is preparing for the release of a 6-inch Lumia phablet during October, according to Taiwanese press reports.
A phablet is a smartphone over 5-inches in size, which is not quite as large as a full-sized 7-inch tablet.
Citing industry sources, DigiTimes reports the new device has been given the working title Lumia 1520.
The device, designed to compete against Samsungโs recently announced Galaxy Note 3 phablet, will ship with the DDR3 version of Windows Phone 8.
As SmartCompany reported in late August, the new device was originally scheduled to be launched in New York later this month, in competition to Samsungโs recently announced Galaxy Note 3.
However, release of the device was delayed following the announcement of Microsoftโs proposed takeover of Nokiaโs smartphone and tablet division for $US7.2 billion.
