Microsoft has begun integrating its Messenger instant messaging app into the latest version of Skype.
According to Tom’s Hardware, the new beta version of Skype 5.11 for Windows allows users to sign into Skype using their Microsoft account, without having to create a separate Skype account, along with the ability to chat with their Messenger, Xbox, Hotmail and Outlook friends.
Users with a current Skype account can link it to their Microsoft account by logging into their Microsoft account and clicking on the “I have a Skype account” button.
The new version of Skype also features a redesigned interface in order to better integrate with Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 8 and Windows RT platforms.
