Microsoft has confirmed its new web browser, announced by the company in January 21 as a part of Windows 10, won’t be called Internet Explorer.
As SmartCompany reported at the time, Microsoft confirmed speculation that it is replacing Internet Explorer with a new web browser called “Project Spartan”.
The new browser, in turn, will integrate with Microsoft’s Siri/Google Now-style personal assistant, Cortana, which previously only appeared on Windows Phone and will make an appearance on the desktop and tablet versions of Windows.
The Verge reports that in comments made to the company’s Microsoft’s Convergence 2015 business computing conference in Atlanta, Georgia, marketing chief Chris Capossela again confirmed “Project Spartan” is replacing Internet Explorer.
“We’ll continue to have Internet Explorer, but we’ll also have a new browser called Project Spartan, which is codenamed Project Spartan. We have to name the thing,” Capossela said, according to The Verge.
