Not usually known for being on the cutting edge of technology or web trends, some law firms are adopting webcasts for communicating with clients.
There are about 200 webcasts available on the British firm Allen & Overy’s website, comprising staff testimonials and briefings on legal developments.
In Australia, a couple of firms are following suit. Gadens and Clayton Utz have a total of 12 webcasts on their sites. Clayton Utz told The Australian Financial Review it is still a trial.
Both firms are using their local talent to star in the films, but another firm, Carter Newell Lawyers in Brisbane has reportedly hired a professional newsreader to read scripts written by lawyers that are podcasted on the website.
It is apparently quite a challenge to get the lawyers out of their mind-numbing monotone.
