eBay joins tech giants in admitting it has work to do on diversity

eBay has joined LinkedIn, Google, and Twitter in admitting when it comes to the diversity of its workforce, it has a lot of work to do.

eBay is the latest tech giant to release its workforce diversity figures, which show that 72% of its leaders, that is directors and above, are men.

Men also dominate tech roles at eBay, occupying 76% of those positions.

Women make up 49% of non-tech roles and 42% of the companyโ€™s total workforce.

When it comes to ethnic diversity 61% of the companyโ€™s US workforce is white, 24% are Asian, 7% black and 5% are Hispanic. Multi-racial and other make up 1% each.

LinkedInโ€™s leaders are predominantly white (72%), while 23% are Asian.

The majority of its tech workforce is Asian, representing 55%, while 40% are white, 2% are black and 2% Hispanic, with multiracial or other making up the final 2%.

โ€œAs a leader in commerce and digital payments, we take diversity seriously,โ€ LinkedIn said in a statement.

ย โ€œAs our data shows, we have made progress in some areas. But we still have much work to do.โ€

โ€œWe believe sustained commitment can make a demonstrable difference. We will continue to strive for progress and a stronger, better, more diverse eBay.โ€
