In these disconnected times, more and more people are using dating services in the hope of meeting that special someone, but it can be difficult to find a compatible person amidst all the strangers out there.

Springwise reports that a new US-based dating service called ScientificMatch is attempting to bring some science to the tricky process of finding romance. As well as matching people on the basis of their values and interests, ScientificMatch also compares the DNA to see if the chemistry is right.

Apparently the immune system has been found to be the key to sexual compatibility – people tend to prefer partners with immune systems different to their own, the theory goes, because it means their children will be able to fight off a wider range of diseases.

Even if kids aren’t on the cards, however, research relied on by ScientificMatch has apparently found that people with immune system compatibility enjoy a more satisfying sex life, increased faithfulness and higher fertility.

Unfortunately, all that science doesn’t come cheap. The price of ScientificMatch membership, which includes a DNA test finding you a compatible date, costs a hefty $US1995.95.
