The NBN Co has told residents and SMEs in Homebush, Coffs Harbour and Sawtell/Toormina to start switching to the NBN, as the rollout begins across Shepparton in Victoria and Modbury in South Australia.

The NBN Co says 2600 residents in Homebush, as well as Sawtell/Toormina on the Central Coast, now have less than 12 months to switch over their existing phone, ADSL internet and Telstra cable internet services.

The NBN Co also states that more than 19,000 more homes and businesses across 11 suburbs in Melbourne are set to receive the network.

Melbourne suburbs with cable rollouts include Brunswick, Frankston, Footscray, Keysborough, Kingsville, Noble Park, Seddon, South Morang, Parkville, West Melbourne and Yarraville.

The latest stage of the rollout means that 65,000 premises across Victoria will have access to the NBN.

In addition, the network is now being rolled out to 5500 premises in Shepparton, in rural Victoria, as well as 2200 premises in Modbury, South Australia.

NBN Co spokesperson Darren Rudd cites the benefits for residents in switching to the new network.

โ€œPeople who have already made the switch tell us they enjoy having all the family online at once, making high-quality video calls with fewer drop outs, downloading movies in minutes and streaming TV.

โ€œAll you need to do is call your preferred phone company or internet provider to choose from a great range of packages over the NBN for a price less than you might think.โ€
