Apple has sold three million units of the new iPad in what the company says is another record result.

“The new iPad is a blockbuster with three million sold – the strongest iPad launch yet,” said Phillip Schiller, the company’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing.

“Customers are loving the incredible new features of iPad, including the stunning Retina display, and we can’t wait to get it into the hands of even more customers around the world this Friday.”

Just two years ago, Apple said it sold 300,000 iPads on their first day of sale. That number has increased as Apple made the device available in more countries on launch day.
