Months after Google announced plans to create a pair of glasses that show users digital information, Apple has patented a similar project.

According to Apple Insider, the new patent covers โ€œperipheral treatment for head mounted displaysโ€.

The patent also specifically mentions display technology, and describes โ€œmethods and apparatus, including computer program products, implementing and using techniques for projecting a source image in a head-mounted display apparatus for a userโ€.

The patent application was originally filed in 2006, although it has only been this year that Google has sparked an interest in wearable computer displays.
