Mark Harbottle is the entrepreneur behind the crowdsourcing site 99designs, arguably one of Australia’s most successful internet ventures โ after all, it received an investment worth millions from Accel Partners last year.
Harbottle’s favourite piece of tech is an iPhone and desktop app that’s been around for years but is often overlooked by many โ Evernote.
“Evernote helps you remember things. Anything at all. Here’s an example… You’re home office decorating and you spot a cool piece of furniture on your travels. Take a photo using the Evernote iPhone app and it’s stored away for inspiration later.
“You stumble on a nice recipe in the doctors’ waiting room that you’d like to try. A quick snap and it’s yours for later. Your real estate agent emails you a signed copy of your new lease. Forward the email to Evernote and you’ll always have a copy on hand.
“Evernote also has a simple browser plugin for swiping snippets of content (or entire web pages) from the web. The thing I love most about it is it’s dead simple to use, and retrieving things later is also a breeze. It’s like a bottomless filing cabinet in the cloud.”
