The mobile patent wars may be coming to an end, with reports that Apple has proposed licensing its patents to both Samsung and Motorola Mobility.
CRN reports that Apple has proposed licensing its patent portfolio to its competitors at a rate of $5 to $15 per device, or 1% to 2.5% of net revenue per device.
The phrase “mobile patent wars” refers to a series of patent disputes and lawsuits between major mobile device manufacturers.
The ongoing patent disputes between Apple and Motorola have led to Apple winning an injunction against Motorola using slide to unlock in Germany. Apple used a similar patent dispute to delay the release of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 last year.
