Online retailing giant Amazon is considering launching a type of library service for digital books through charging an annual fee.

According to the Wall Street Journal, executives have said they arenโ€™t necessarily behind the plan as it could devalue current book prices.

The company has reportedly told publishers it is considering such a service with older titles, and that this would be available to Amazon Prime customers.

Publishers would receive a fee for becoming part of the scheme, but at this point it is unknown whether any of these companies have signed on, according to the report.
