Payments start-up Square, founded by ex-Twitter chief executive Jack Dorsey, has now announced it handled payments over $2 million in one day.
“Wow. @Square has already processed over $2,000,000 in card payments today (and it is far from over)!,” Dorsey said on his blog.
A Square spokesperson told Mashable the company is now growing among a customer base that consists of small businesses across the country.
“Square is becoming the default way for small businesses, sole proprietors and entrepreneurs to get paid,” the spokesperson said. “We’re growing, adding 100,000 merchants per month. We processed $66 million in Q1 and anticipate tripling that this quarter.”
Tech giant Apple has begun selling Square readers from its online and retail stores.
