Telecommunications giant Nokia has celebrated the success of its Ovi store, releasing figures showing downloads are now reaching three-million per day. The company said the rate of downloads has increased in the last eight weeks, with the company saying it expects to sell 132 million apps between now and New Year’s.
“Ovi Store is on a strong trajectory fuelled by new apps and games from a growing number of partners and more than 250,000 new consumers signing up for Ovi every day,” services executive vice president Tero Ojanpero said in a statement.
“The number of daily downloads has increased from about two million to three million since September. We anticipate our progress will continue as we have just begun shipping our new Symbian smartphones.”
But while the company says its app downloads have increased, Nokia is still losing market share to Android and iOS.
