Social network Twitter has partnered up with Apple’s own social venture, iTunes Ping, to allow users to share music and other recommendations through the network.
The partnership comes as analysts say Ping needs need to start developing partnerships and integrate with other social networks, such as Facebook, in order to grow in popularity.
Twitter says that 95 million tweets every day are about music that people are listening to, so joining up with Ping is a natural move.
“Whenever you Post, Like, Review, or tell your friends why you purchased a song or album on Ping, this activity will also be tweeted to your Twitter followers โ complete with playable song previews and links to purchase and download music from iTunes,” Twitter says.
Ping accounts can now be linked to Twitter accounts. Twitter users who share details of a song through Ping can send the information to their Twitter page. However, the feature only works on official Twitter clients and not third-party clients, such as TweetDeck.
