BlackBerry maker Research In Motion announced it will bring the new BlackBerry Curve 3G model to Australia.

The announcement comes as the company prepares to roll out its new BlackBerry Torch model by the end of the year, after launching the new touchscreen gadget in America earlier this month.

“The BlackBerry Curve series has been very popular in Australia and we are excited to extend the series with the new BlackBerry Curve 3G,” Adele Beachley, RIM Australia managing director said in a statement.

“The new BlackBerry Curve 3G is both powerful and user-friendly, providing a smart choice for the growing number of first-time smartphone buyers who are looking for a better way to stay connected in their personal and work lives.”

The Curve features a QWERTY keyboard, GPS and Wi-Fi, and comes with the capability to add an SD card with up to 32GB of media.

The gadget will be available in Optus and Vodafone stores by early September, and in Three stores after October.
