Online payment services group PayPal has released an update for its Android app, adding the popular “bump” feature seen on the iPhone version.
The feature allows two users to tap their phones together, which will initiate a payment. The service works through a type of GPS software that allows the company to determine when and where a “bump” occurs.
Another feature allows users to calculate portions owed for a restaurant bill, along with a number of other smaller updates.
Laura Chambers, senior director of PayPal mobile, said on the company’s blog that “we expect to close out the year with over half a billion dollars of mobile payment volume”.
PayPal is putting an ever-increasing amount of focus on the mobile scene. Earlier this year, Chambers told SmartCompany the firm intends to keep pushing mobile as part of a major focus over the next few years.
