Online DVD rental group Quickflix has recorded 10,000 subscribers during the past three weeks, saying it represents a significant increase from the 55,637 figure reported on June 30.
In a statement, the company said the growth represents 500 new subscribers per day, or growth of about 20% on total subscribers at the end of June.
“The company has achieved a new record for the number of subscribers added in a day of 2,649. This eclipses the previous record and makes July’s growth to date the strongest start to a quarter recorded by the company.”
Last month, executive chairman Stephen Langsford told SmartCompany the company is still not profitable because it wants to focus on subscribers of the next year or so before it switches to a profit-based model.
He also said Quickflix will introduce digital distribution products later this year, emulating systems used by US rental group Netflix.
