Software giant Microsoft is using social networking site Twitter to market its upcoming operating system, Windows 7.

The company is running a new marketing campaign in which Twitter users who search for the “#WinWin7” tag can win gaming keyboards, free pizza, confectionary, and according to the company, “somewhat goofy” prizes.

“There’s more to come and the prizes are only getting better,” wrote Brandon LeBlanc, Microsoft’s in-house Windows blogger, in a blog post.

LeBlanc said the marketing campaign is part of an attempt to gain 77,777 Twitter followers, with the company also giving away a free copy of Windows 7 for every 2,000 additional followers.

“When the magical number of 77,777 is reached, the Windows Outreach Team has some great (and super-secret) prizes to hand out,” wrote the blogger. “If you’re not following @MSWindows on Twitter already, you should consider doing so as things look like they will get pretty interesting,” said LeBlanc.
