Cloud computing provider Salesforce.com has introduced a new service that will allow businesses to track “tweets” made about them on micro-blogging service Twitter.

Using the service, companies can capture and monitor conversations about their businesses on Twitter, which records an original post, and subsequent replies from other Twitter users.

While the service is not the first application that allows businesses to track their popularity on Twitter, it is one of the first to be released as part of a paid package of services.

The integration has been made available as part of its “Salesforce Service Cloud” package, which already allows businesses to track their popularity on sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Google.

If you’re not a Salesforce.com customer, here are some other free applications and services that can be used to track your business on Twitter:

  • Backtweets.com.
  • Twitturly.com.
  • ConvoMonitor (an in-Twitter based application).
