It’s an increasingly familiar sight to see families trek to farmers’ markets for their fresh produce each weekend, rather than head to the supermarket.

 

The problem is distribution. If you have a car or live within spitting distance of a farmers’ market, you’re fine. But the sector is well overdue for a more portable option for office workers and those in distant suburbs.

 

In the US, delivery of produce by bicycle has become popular while another concept is ‘pop-up’ farmers’ markets that travel to normally overlooked areas.

 

Why should farmers’ markets be confined to one location? An innovative business could find plenty of un-tapped areas and take advantage.
