Shopping has traditionally been a woman’s sport. Some men avoid shopping malls and would rather let their mothers or partners pick out items to buy.
Perhaps one reason why men loathe malls is because so many of the stores within them are aimed at women. But what would happen if someone designed a mall strictly for male shoppers?
Consumers in the Czech Republic are about to find out. The first men-centric shopping centre is set to open in Prague. Titled Pánská Pasáž, which translates into “Gentleman’s Arcade”, the mall will house 19 luxury men’s boutiques.
In addition to clothing, the shopping centre will be home to a tailor, a men’s perfumery and a traditional barbershop, making it a one-stop-shop for fashionable men.
As the retail sector struggles to stay afloat, every single sales strategy should be tried and tested. Is a male-centric shopping environment the next niche in retail?
