It’s typical now for people to have at least one or two email accounts – and sometimes sharing the contacts between them can be a real nuisance.
Thankfully, if you’re using Gmail there’s an easy way to get your contacts from another mail service over to your new account.
First, you need to go to your Yahoo, Orkut, Outlook or Hotmail account, and then export your contact list. Each program will have a different way to do this, but it should provide you with a CSV or vCard file. Save it somewhere on your computer.
Then, go to your Gmail account, and click on “contacts”.
At the top of the toolbar, you should see a button that says “more actions”. Click it, and then click on the “import” option.
A toolbar will appear that will ask you to browse for your contact list. Go to wherever you saved the contact file, and then press “import”.
Your contacts should now be imported into Gmail, ready to use.
