Tech TricksYou use your computer so much that people often forget to give them a bit of a clean. But like any piece of equipment, they need to have a tune-up every now and again.

While there are a number of ways you can clean your computer, one of the most common problems you’ll face is excessive dust.

To combat this, all you’ll need is a can of compressed air.

If you’re using a PC, remove one side of your case to access the components. Make sure the computer is turned off, and unplugged, before you do this. If you feel uncomfortable doing this yourself, ask a colleague or friend who has more experience with computers to help out. While some cases require screws, others are tool-less and can be taken off with little trouble.

Once the computer is accessible, use your can of compressed air to get rid of any dust clumped in components. Too much dust can create excessive heat, causing your computer to run poorly.

Once you’re done, replace the case. You should aim to do this once or twice every six months.
