The dating market is fairly well saturated, but what about launching a start-up that deals with the messy aftermaths of relationships?
A company called Knock Knock has come up with the I Will Survive Kit, to be used in the event of a breakup.
The kit includes a remedy booklet, healing bandages, a recovery certificate and a lifelike heart-shaped charm. The user can also read uplifting messages on the kit’s affirmation cards.
“This quirky little box won’t erase what happened or put your life in reverse, but it will at least make you laugh when the going gets tough,” the company says.
“So if you need a break from the ‘unbearable heartache’, grab a BFF, your favourite snack and this tiny package of inspiration.”
The kit is an attempt to make light of an otherwise awful situation, and meant to be taken with a pinch of salt. But it does raise the question of whether there is an opportunity to venture into other break-up inspired businesses.
There are hotels, for example, with rooms featuring chocolates and other creature comforts for people to take their newly single friends in an effort to cheer them up. What other ideas could be commercialised as post-breakup pick-me-ups?
