How iCatalyst started
In a landscape dominated by large multinationals with limited local focus, co-founders Dennis Chan, Andrew Devitt and Justin Martin spotted an opportunity to bring together a team of highly regarded professionals and cater to the under-served Western Australian mid-market. While entering a tech-hungry market in 2020 was always going to be a gamble, the resulting iCatalyst had an ace up its sleeve: it would fill the void created by poor delivery capabilities.
Today, iCatalyst provides intelligent software solutions based on Microsoft Business Applications and the Microsoft Power Platform. What sets it apart is its unwavering commitment to flexibility, high-touch engagement and a product-focused approach – values that larger competitors often lack.
Growth
Rapid growth is generally a good thing, but iCatalyst found it was actually outpacing its hiring capabilities early on. This compelled the team to streamline its recruitment and onboarding through HR management software and psychometric testing.
Ensuring a consistent approach, strategy and execution across sometimes-siloed delivery units also presented an ongoing challenge. To address this, iCatalyst developed a centralised, standalone management and administration business that has become a solid foundation for growth.
Where to next
Chan, Devitt and Martin anticipate substantial growth to continue in the year ahead. Their national expansion has already begun, with key staff placed across the east coast and foundation customers already acquired in target locations.
FY24 will see an accelerated national expansion, with budgeted growth primarily stemming from the existing business, enriched by the potential upsides from this expansion. Even with such big plans, iCatalyst will stay committed to delivering innovative technology solutions and strengthening its presence across Australia.
