How EVSE Australia started

Brendan Wheeler and Sam Korkees took a trip to Europe in 2014 and quickly saw how far behind Australia was in the EV sector.

Coming home, they quickly jumped on the energy transition bandwagon, with their first client being Optus, and they’ve since evolved from selling chargers to offering turnkey solutions for corporate clients.

Growth

In the early years, there was no EV industry in Australia, and the founders’ customer base totalled a handful of enthusiasts and Tesla owners.

As the transition away from combustion engines speeds up, EVSE Australia’s business is booming, with an astounding 124% average year-on-year growth in the past three years.

The bulk of that has come in the past 12 months – growing revenue from $7 million in 2021-22 to $16.3 million in its last financial year results.

Where to next

Wheeler and Korkees believe they can double their revenue again in the next financial year, grow the team, and expand a roughly three-to-five-hour flight east and west – to New Zealand and Perth respectively.

EVSE Australia was shortlisted for the Sustainability Award at The Smart50 Awards 2023.
