Why business leaders should sleep naked

Business owners and entreprenurs should consider sleeping in their birthday suit if they want to be happier and have more money, according to a psychologist and leading management consultant.

Dr Travis Bradberry, the founder of TalentSmart, points to research that suggests reducing your body temperature can increase the depth of your sleep and reduce the number of times you wake up during the night.

In a blog post published on LinkedIn, Bradberry says the most effective way to reduce your body temperature while in bed is to take off your clothes or pyjamas.

While many of us might worry about what would happen if there was a fire or an unexpected visitor, Bradberry says sleeping in the buff can have numerous benefits, including being able to better manage stress.

“We all know that prolonged stress is bad news,” Bradberry writes.

“Stress throws your cortisol levels out of whack. Proper rest helps to restore normal cortisol levels, which improves your stress level regardless of what’s happening around you. Sleeping naked will help you to get a better night’s sleep.”

Bradberry also believes sleeping naked can boost your confidence levels, increasing the likelihood of that next promotion or business opportunity.

“A University of Melbourne study found that confident people earn higher wages and get promoted more often than their less confident counterparts,” he writes.

“Sleeping naked makes you more comfortable in your own skin. As your comfort with your body increases, so does your self-esteem and confidence.”
