Dear Aunty B,
I successfully took in VC money in ’98 and used it to build a business which I sold. I have dabbled in a few things since then but have now found the next big idea that has huge potential. The problem is the finance market is completely different. Where have all the VCs gone? My last contact at a VC firm has actually retired to the golf course!

Dear Back to Work,
Congratulations on a clean bill of health! I am not sure what you mean by a VC but assume you are not referring to the Victoria Cross or Voluntary Carbon Standard.
Oh, I know what you mean. Venture capitalists! Haven’t seen one for years. Is that where they have all gone? To the golf course? Goodness. Yes, the landscape for funding has changed. But I have good news for you. There has recently been a swag of entrepreneurs sell up and exit in the last year.
They all reckon they are having a great holiday but by now most of them will be going out of their heads with boredom and their spouses hate their guts. Problem is, they don’t want to go back into working 24 hours a day to building a business. But they do want to put their money back into a new venture and have some fun. They will love you with your good track record and readiness to do the hard yards again.
Read SmartCompany and find out which entrepreneur has sold up that links to your industry and go and knock on their door.
Good luck!
Your Aunty B
