Joel Hopkins was a concreter for over 11 years when he decided he wanted to try something different.
After being out of work for a year while living in Sydney, Joel made the move to Geelong. The move opened a door for a job with Geelong Fencing.
Owner of Geelong Fencing Dale Hood successfully applied for the Jobs Victoria Fund when hiring Joel. The program will subsidise Joel’s wages for a year, giving Dale the support he needs as he grows his business.
Now Joel has employment that he enjoys and Dale has an extra pair of hands helping him to build more fences, more quickly.
The Jobs Victoria Fund is providing $250 million in wage subsidies to assist Victorian businesses to employ at least 10,000 people who are looking for work.
If you are a Victorian employer ready to take on new staff, the Jobs Victoria Fund can financially support you to employ people who have been most affected by the economic impacts of the pandemic.
