A week after Malaysian discount airline AirAsia announced it was offering 500,000 free seats, Singapore’s Tiger Airways has launched its own “free” promotion.
The special means passengers will only have to pay taxes and charges of up to $39.90, and credit card fees, to fly on most Tiger routes between 1 February and 30 June next year.
The promotion covers all of Tiger’s domestic routes except its flights to and from Perth. There are more than 100,000 seats on offer in the sale, which coincides with the airline’s first anniversary in Australia.
Airlines are desperately chasing customers as tourism numbers fall as a result of the global economic crisis. Qantas recently announced it will extend its two-for-one sale on selected international routes.
