The 3G iPhone has been one of the most talked-about gadgets all year, and now mobile phone manufacturers are starting to catch up. The last few months have seen a string of new smart phone gadgets released, all with the intention of stealing would-be buyers away from the iPhone.

- LG Prada 2 – This update to the high-end smart phone includes a slide-out keyboard, a five megapixel camera, full HTML browser and WiFi capability. Should be available by the month’s end.
- Samsung Instinct – This device offers a full touchscreen, GPS capabilities and runs on the 3G network, and boasts a two megapixel camera.
- BlackBerry Storm – The device that caused arrests of enthusiastic techies upon news that stores had sold out. It boasts a full touchscreen, 3G network capability and a media player.
- T-Mobile G1 – The much anticipated “Google phone”. Running on open-source Android software, it boasts 3.5G speed and full HTML capabilities.
- Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 – This smartphone runs on Windows software, offering Microsoft Office and a three inch touchscreen.
- HTC Touch Diamond – This device comes with camera, camcorder, four gigabytes of internal memory and a 2.8 inch touchscreen.
