News Corproration’s Australian online job advertisement site CareerOne has teamed up with online auction giant eBay to launch a new classifieds site called eBay Jobs.
The new site, which can be accessed from eBay Australia’s home page, is essentially a re-packaging of CareerOne’s job advertisements and links to CareerOne’s existing job hunting tool and editorial content, such as a job hunting advice column.
eBay Jobs will also have links to job-related products in their respective eBay categories such as mobile phones, office equipment, men’s and women’s suits and travel guides.
The benefits for both parities are clear.
News Corp gets to put its job advertisements in front of eBay’s 5.3 million monthly users, while eBay gives users another reason to come to its site and a new advertising offering to sell to its auctioneers.
Sharon Scheepers, senior director at eBay, says: “Being able to provide broader, complimentary offerings to eBay.com.au members is important. CareerOne.com.au’s extensive job listings, in-depth editorial advice and job hunting tools, provide the right combination of content for eBay.com.au members searching for the best products and services.”
This is the second major brand extension deal for CareerOne in 2008. In January, it launched a similar service on MySpace called MySpace Jobs.
CareerOne.com.au had 1,341,317 unique browsers in July 2008.
