eBay has launched a new site called WorldofGood.com that will sell ethically-sourced products that have “a positive impact on people and the planet”.
Online auction giant eBay is getting in touch with its hippie side.
The company has launched a new site called WorldofGood.com that will sell ethically-sourced products that have “a positive impact on people and the planet”.
The site offers products in 15 different categories including jewellery, home and garden and health and beauty. To ensure the products are genuinely ethical, all products, producers and sellers will be vetted by various third parties called “trust providers”, including TransFair USA (Fair Trade Certified), Co-op America and Aid to Artisans.
“We created the WorldofGood.com marketplace to enable shoppers to purchase socially responsible products with confidence,” says Robert Chatwani, general manager of WorldofGood.com.
“Regardless of the social causes most important to consumers, they can easily shop for items according to a variety of different attributes, allowing them to customise their shopping impact.”
After a run of negative press, maybe WorldofGood can help put eBay in a more positive light.
