US users of Apple’s iPhone device are more likely to use the gadget to surf the internet than Android, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile users, according to new data from AdMob.

ย

The company, which compared data from 6000 publishers, has found that about 50% of all mobile web traffic in the US comes from Apple’s iPhone devices, as well as 33% of traffic worldwide.

ย

The BlackBerry platform took second place, capturing 21% of the US market. Windows Mobile placed third with just 13%, while Palm managed to capture 7%. The Google Android system is also on the rise, having captured 5% of the market. Currently the only Android device available is the T-Mobile G1.

ย

The biggest drop belonged to operating system Symbian, which in AdMob’s August report had lost 21% to grab just 43% of the operating system market.
