Melbourne-based startup Maxme has raised $400,000 with participation from LaunchVicโs Alice Anderson Fund to expand its human skill development programs.
Founded in 2019 by Renata Sguario, Maxme aims to bridge the gap between employees and their jobs by providing what the company calls ‘human skills’.
Maxmeโs suite of offerings includes the Hodie app, which uses gamified learning to develop critical skills, and the Human Skills Academy — a virtual coaching platform.
The company also runs the Amica program for secondary school students and tailored programs for organisations to enhance team performance and readiness for the future of work.
โMaxme has raised $400,000 after bootstrapping for four years to supercharge sales and scale at a time that the market needs us most,” Maxme founder and CEO, Renata Sguario, said to SmartCompany.
This injection of capital will enable Maxme to broaden its reach and impact, particularly at a time when generative AI is on the rise and the need for human or “soft skills” is increasingly crucial in the workforce.
LaunchVic CEO Dr Kate Cornick praised Maxme’s mission and Sguarioโs leadership.
โThe Alice Anderson Fund is thrilled to back Maxme in their mission to prepare global workforces for success in the age of AI,” Dr Cornick said to SmartCompany.
“Renata is a senior executive with almost 30 years’ experience executing customer-centred, business and tech transformations for leading organisations. Like many of our other portfolio founders, she has seen a problem during a successful professional career and built the solution she wishes she had.โ
Since its inception in 2019, Maxme has onboarded over 13,600 users to its proprietary app, upskilled more than 5,000 employees and empowered 500+ secondary school students across Australia.
The companyโs focus on delivering high-impact, scalable, and affordable human skill development solutions has positioned it as a leader in the EdTech sector.
