Abbott vs Gillard’s online marketing warsPolitical online marketing has come a long way since Kevin07’s online assault and this year has some interesting tactics being employed.

So based on their online marketing and the results they are getting I am going to attempt to predict the winner of this weekend’s election.

If we take a look at the recent trending searches in Google you can see some big changes in volumes. Obviously when Julia became Prime Minister there was a huge spike in popularity and searches, although now this has seemed to die off.

Purely on search volume, Gillard is more popular than Abbott, although the gap is definitely closing. In terms of news references, Abbott has seemed to have dragged himself into the lead.

Geographically, you can see the number of searches in Tasmania has been very popular, most likely due to the launch of the NBN in the state.
