The Chinese Government last week confirmed it had renewed Google’s license to operate in the country.

State news agency Xinhua reported that an official statement from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said the license had been approved for Beijing Guxiang Information Technology, which operates Google China’s website.

The report also states that Google China has agreed to “abide by Chinese law”, but it is not certain whether Google will stop redirecting users to its Hong Kong site.

Earlier this year, Google said it would no longer censor search results for Chinese users. It started to redirect them to the company’s Hong Kong site, where users would be able to search for unfiltered results.
