US President Barack Obama has asked Americans to submit questions about the economy on the internet, and says he will answer some of them live on Friday.

“This is an experiment, but it’s also an opportunity for me to look at a computer and get a snapshot of what Americans across the country care about,” Obama said in a video message on the White House website.

Viewers can ask questions via text and video, and can vote for the questions they want to see answered the most. Obama’s staff used a similar tactic during the election campaign to create a list of the most popular issues among voters.

The experiment is part of an effort by the Obama Administration to merge the US Government with popular technology. Since his election, Obama has been delivering video messages every week that are available on the White House website.ย
