Tech TricksWhile debate over the upcoming carbon tax continues to rage on, there is no doubt higher electricity prices are on every business owner’s mind.

Every little bit counts, which is why you should make sure your computers are saving every little piece of power they can.

To save power on your desktop machine, go to the Control Panel, and then choose Power Options. On the left-hand side of the screen, click on “create a power plan”.

There, you’ll be given three options – balanced, power saver and high performance. Choosing power saver will result in saving energy by reducing your computer’s performance, while “high performance” will use more energy.

Most computers should use the “balanced” option, but if you aren’t using your computer a lot and want to save on energy, choosing “power saver” may be a good option.
