Apple iPhone users who delight in annoying fellow commuters by talking loudly into their phones may soon be able to go one better by serenading them on their journey.
Apple has taken out patents for an app that turns iPhones and iPods into mobile karaoke machines.
Not only will the app provide tunes and lyrics for users to sing along to, the software will analyse their performance and let them know how they’re doing.
At the end of each song, a full appraisal will be given on how they went.
The app will allow users to record their performances as well as edit and listen to them back, comparing them directly to the original hit.
Apple is aiming at the market created by popular karaoke games such as Sony’s SingStar.
It’s not known when the app will be available, although a huge karaoke section has appeared on iTunes, suggesting karaoke apps represent a new area of interest for the company.
