Bah humbug! It’s that wonderful time of year again when everybody has their hand out – the family, friends, staff, even the bloody garbage man wants a slab of beer.
Of course, the most important people to think about at this time of year are the people who really matter in your business – your clients.
What are you getting them for Christmas?
This is a vexed issue. Obviously, spending a fortune on presents isn’t something entrepreneurs embrace, but for those particularly important clients, you need to do something.
There are a number of options. Some companies like to go down the hamper route (a bit old hat if you ask me) while others like to go down the “green” route (giving a tree or plant became very popular a few years ago) and some prefer the charity route (giving a donation to a organisation in lieu of a gift).
All good ideas, but my suggestion is the tried and true one – wine. It’s something that can be taken home and enjoyed, drunk on the spot or even re-gifted (if the person doesn’t indulge). It’s safe, classy and in my opinion, almost always gratefully received.
Oh, and it’s better to buy a good bottle of wine and give only a handful of your best clients a gift than to send a crap bottle to everyone.
Get it done – today!
