Entrepreneurs usually have no trouble generating ideas – they are usually always thinking of ways to grow and change their business and start new businesses too.
However, if the ideas dry up, or you need to spark a bit of extra creativity within your business, here are few valuable tips:
- Brainstorm. Get all your key staff members together, set a specific problem to tackle and start writing out ideas. But remember the golden rule – no idea should be rejected during the session. Instead, wait until after the session to assess what you’ve got.
- Incentivise. Provide a small prize for the best idea of the month. You’ll be surprised how effective a little incentive can be.
- Ask your customers and suppliers. The people dealing with your business might be able to see things you can’t. It can’t hurt to ask.
- Get in outside help. Consultants are useful to review your business and facilitate idea-generation sessions.
- Copy and adapt. If you see a good idea in another sector (or even in your industry) don’t be afraid to borrow it and make it even better.
- Carry a notepad. Ideas can strike at any time. Keep a notepad with you at all times so you never miss an inspiration strike.
