Directing Google to see things on your site is an important part of the SEO process. However, it is imperative you remain in control of what Google has access to. Many government departments allow free reign to Google, but that often allows access to sensitive documents, along with duplicate content. You need to block Google from accessing duplicate content using robots.txt, and if you have sensitive information on your site (which you shouldn’t!) then remove it from your server.
We’ve all seen high profile cases of hacked information being leaked. Don’t allow your site to be a victim of a data breach.
Stay safe and don’t store documents on your web server.
